Oracle Database 10g / 11g: Administration I

Summary:
This course provides a starting point for administration of the Oracle database. The first 2-day segment considers an in-depth discussion of the database architecture, including installing the Oracle software, creating an Oracle database, the Oracle instance, background processes, the SGA and memory structures,. The remaining 3 days cover common administration tasks such as managing the use of disk space through data files, tablespaces, extents, blocks and rows, security, backup & recovery; Oracle network management and configuration, understanding the Oracle self-tuning database approach, background processes and the Enterprise Manager Database Control web interface. User creation and management through grants, roles and profiles is covered. The Oracle data utilities SQL*Loader, Import data pump and Export data pump are described. Finally an overview of backup and recovery concepts is given. If time permits, an optional chapter on monitoring and resolving lock conflicts is presented.
